captured directions

capture impactful moments, share your ambitions, translate your feelings and show meaningful locations through visual storytelling. by blending in discretely and observatively in the environment, the reality unfolds as is, leading to unique an unpolished photography.

the road safety project
kukua
2016-2025

with road accidents being the number one cause of death for young children in tanzania, zanzibar based ngo kukua has an all inclusive approach in educating young pedestrians, drivers and relevant ministries concerning road safety.

kukua was born in 2016, and i’ve had the opportunity to capture their actions since then.

the swimming project
kichanga foundation
2015-2024

despite living closely by the ocean and earning an income through fishing, sailing, or seaweed farming, a considerable part of the zanzibar population doesn’t know how to swim – especially women and children. for years the kichanga foundation is offering regular swimming classes in the village of michamvi, and providing burkini swim wear for the female participants. during the yearly swimming competitions the participants get the opportunity to show their improved skills and gain recognition for their hard work.

zanzibar eye camp
specsavers
2018

Since 2010, Specsavers norway has run an annual humanitarian project – Give Sight to Tanzania – bringing optometrists and volunteers from its Nordic stores to Zanzibar to provide free eye tests and distribute glasses to communities with little or no access to eye care. in 2018 i got the opportunity to document the eye camp on two different locations in rural areas in unguja, zanzibar.

the green revolution
the farmers market zanzibar
2020-2026

in mid 2020 – when the world paused and caught a breath – the farmers market zanzibar was born, out of a strong vision to connect smallhold, zanzibari farmers directly to their market. as a visitor i documented the first editions of the market, with a camera in one hand and a basket full of fresh vegetables in the other. in mid 2025 – when the future of the market was at risk – i stepped in the committee, where i next to documenting the market also ensure it’s prolongevity.
